Difference Day
In 1993 the United Nations General Assembly declared May 3rd to be World Press Freedom Day to raise awareness of the importance of freedom of the press and remind governments of their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression enshrined under Article 19 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day the Brussels Platform for Journalism (a joint initiative of Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Université Libre de Bruxelles and Erasmushogeschool Brussel) , BOZAR & Evens Foundation organize annual event Difference Day – an event honouring European and World Wide journalistic work in terms of press freedom, journalism practice and reflection on freedom of speech and represent the international and European dimension of journalistic work and freedom of thinking.
During this event Evens European Journalism Prize is being awarded.
