Difference Day 2015

Difference Day 2015
On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day on 3 May 2015 the Brussels Platform for Journalism, BOZAR & Evens Foundation organise Difference Day in the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts.

In 1993 the United Nations General Assembly declared May 3rd to be World Press Freedom Day to raise awareness of the importance of freedom of the press and remind governments of their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression enshrined under Article 19 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day the Brussels Platform for Journalism (a joint initiative of Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Université Libre de Bruxelles and Erasmushogeschool Brussel) , BOZAR & Evens Foundation organize Difference Day in the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts. The event has the potential to become a yearly tradition.

The entire day honours European and World Wide journalistic work in terms of press freedom, journalism practice and reflection on freedom of speech and represent the international and European dimension of journalistic work and freedom of thinking. Brussels, as the multilingual capital of Europe, marked by the presence of a wide range of international institutions and media, is the perfect city for this event. The venue is BOZAR (www.bozar.be), with its Salle Henry Leboeuf, a most prestigious location in the city.

800 participants are expected for the day programme and 400 VIP guests from all over the world are invited to attend the formal gala night.
