Street School for Young Journalists

Street School for Young Journalists
Street School is the Paris launch-pad for young journalists, helping a new generation from diverse social backgrounds to emerge.

The Evens Foundation aims to support the democratization of the media while maintaining high-quality newsmaking standards.

Since 2012, we have been supporting the Street School for Young Journalists in Paris. Since its inception, more than 60 young people have benefited from the school’s four-month program of workshops, based on the principle of “learning by doing” and run by experienced journalists from major French media. An online version of the Street School, with podcasts and tutorials, is hosted on the platform of the Mozilla Foundation. This allows a larger community of young people to follow this unique journalistic training.

The School alumni work today at AFP, Le Figaro, RFI, Al Jazeera, Bloomberg, and Alternatives Economiques – in Paris, Berlin and Melbourne.

In 2015 the Street School was awarded the national label Grande Ecole du Numérique (#GEN). This governmental distinction for the best intensive and free digital training will allow the school to expand its educational offer and deliver certifications and internship agreements, and benefit from a nationwide promotion campaign.

The project was developed by Street Press, a young online medium, with the support of the Open Society Foundations and numerous media partners.
